It's safe to say we don't keep things updated on here much any more! The simple reason for that is we make far more use of our club Facebook group as an interactive community hub rather than just posting things here 'for information'. We continue to use a Facebook group rather than a business type 'Like' page so that everyone involved in the club can post and interact rather than just have information posted by admin. The Facebook group is set as open so it can be viewed like any other website without having to have a Facebook account.
Results are now automatically posted online so there is no need to to copy them over to here. The RC Timing race control software we use has the live broadcast feature and online results, so during our race meetings you can have the live timing on your phone or tablet at your pit table and then refer back to all stored race meetings with all your individual race and lap times at any time - RC-Results.
Kettering Model Car Club is still a Touring Car club so our race meetings tend to feature heats for traditional 1/10th scale 4wd EP Touring Cars, but we also cater for the 2wd 'Frontie' Touring Cars too which depending on numbers will either be mixed in with their 4wd brothers or be placed in a seperate heat. In addition to the 'standard size' TC's we also race Mini Touring Cars, or MTC's, which over the last 2 or 3 years has grown to be out biggest class and will generally race in their own heats/finals. These cars are closer to 1/12th scale and work really well on our classic small indoor carpet track. Finally, in recent months we have had a Novice heat running for the newest members of our club to get up to speed with driving their RC cars on track with other racers of similar ability before hopefully moving into the regualr heats when the time is right. The Novice heat is open to any beginner regardless of age and is very relaxed in terms of the cars allowed so there is typically a mix of MTC, TC, Tamiya Mini's and even GT12 running at the same time.
Booking in for our Friday night race meetings is done via an online Google form and PayPal payment and is quick and easy to do. A link to the form is posted in our Facebook group each Saturday for the following Friday meeting and a running total of entries is kept up to date in the 'Pinned Announcment' post at the top of the group so you have a rough idea how busy your class is going to be. Online entry allows us to plan the upcoming meeting and keep an eye on entries. Too few entries may result in a cancelled meeting so we encourage racers to book in early to enable us to judge the viability of the meeting. On the flip side, a busy meeting with lots of entries may result in booking in being closed early if we judge the meeting to be 'full', so again racers are encouraged to book in early to secure their place and avoid disappointment.
We hope to see you at our track or in our Facebook chat soon! KMCC Admin
