About Us

Kettering Model Car Club started out as an off-road racing club based in Burton Latimer just outside of Kettering. As with most clubs we have evolved over time and nowerdays we mainly race 1/10th scale Touring Cars indoors on a carpet track at Barton Seagrave Village Hall on the outskirts of Kettering on Friday evenings between 7.00pm and 10.00pm. We welcome variations on the standard Touring Car platform so Tamiya M Chassis cars or Tamiya Trucks are a common sight. Other classes of indoor onroad cars (GT12, LMP12, F1 etc)are welcome to come along and have a go but if you wish to become a member and race regularly we encourage you to adopt the class we run. We require 4 or more cars of a class to run in their own heats and finals, below that they will be mixed in with the Touring Cars.

Our club members are a very friendly bunch, many of which have been racing with the club for longer than they'd care to remember. This means there is a wealth of experience and advice on tap every week and they are always happy to help out both new and established racers with anything they need be it set-up advice, driver coaching, spare parts or anything else you can think of.

New members are always welcome - Feel free to come along and watch if you want to find out more about our club.

Location Location Location...

We race in the sports hall of the brand new Barton Seagrave Village Hall on the outskirts of Kettering. Detailed address info and directions, including a Google Maps link, can be found on the Location page. There is ample parking both infront of the building and in the main carpark area, and easy ramped access to the building. Enter via the main entrance and immediatly turn right to enter the hall through large double doors. Male, Female and Disabled toilet facilities are just off the entrance foyer and an onsite cafe should be available also (this is planned to be a licenced bar eventually too). As this is a brand new building we benefit from a perfectly smooth floor, excellent heating, great natural light from huge windows for the summer months and excellent lighting for the darker months. We also have lots of power outlets, approx 10 large tables big enough for 2 drivers to share and plenty of chairs.
Our track is built using Primafelt GT carpet over and area of approx 18.5M x 12M with the layout marked out with square section pipe and flexible corner markers.
A limited number of AMBrc handout transponders are avaialbe but we encourage the use of personal transponders to time the races and count your laps. We will not be upgrading to the RC4 timing equipment so all pre-RC4 Mylaps/AMB and MRT personal transponders will work with our system.

Membership + Fee's

Membership of Kettering Model Car Club costs £5 for 2018. All racers are required to hold a valid BRCA license which costs £20 for the year. With the new BRCA website now up and running it is easier for racers to apply for their BRCA license directly rather than through the club as we used to do. The process only takes a few minutes and the fee is payable by PayPal, if you have any issues we can assist you on a club night.
Club memberships are due each January.
You must have BRCA membership to race, as this gives you 3rd party insurance cover, as well as a copy of the BRCA handbook and your license card.
Race fee is 8 for adult members and 2 for junior members (under 16).
You can only race 3 times as a non-BRCA member, club membership is optional but non-members will not be eligible for championship points or prizes.

Race Format

We run two, 5 minute qualifying rounds and two 5 minute finals (both finals count towards your overall placing for the night), everyone gets to race in a final! During championships both final results count towards your championship standing.
